Manorhamilton Christmas lights prove a
great success
(2004)
This year's display of public Christmas
lights on the streets of Manorhamilton, organised by the Enterprise
Forum, has won the approval and admiration of both locals and
visitors alike.
The official switch-on of the Christmas lights was performed
by Manorhamilton's own Francis Boylan, the presenter of the popular
RTE children's television programme 'The Den'. A large crowd of
spectators, young and old alike, gathered to watch as the TV show
was broadcast live from Market Square in the town.
Francis was in great form and was joined by his puppet accomplices,
Dustin the turkey and Soky, amongst others. Several locals made
guest appearances 'on air', with Christmas almost coming early
for Dustin as he met with the town's butchers.
The lights display in Manorhamilton this year is bigger and better
than in previous years and is a credit to all who helped in putting
it together. Hopefully the lighting will remain a regular feature
of the Christmas season in the town as it certainly helps create
a great festive atmosphere on the streets.
